Ortilizi 19 House

In the historic center of Rionero in Vulture, volcanic tuff dwellings—shaped by the socio-economic transformations of the twentieth century—grow vertically, tracing the shift from agrarian life to modernity. Over time, the house was altered and eventually abandoned. The project renovates the structure by reinforcing the existing fabric while releasing previously latent spatial potential. The interior is emptied; the masonry is consolidated; floor slabs are reconstructed and lightened, preserving the primary existing structural frameworks. New service and circulation devices, nested along blind walls, reconfigure the renewed interior landscape.
